Tueai La is a Richmond Hill-based artist. She was born in 1963 in Hue, Vietnam, and emigrated to Canada with her family during the seventies. She later received her B.A. in Fine Art from York University (Toronto) in 1987.
Tueai was attracted to drawing and painting at an early age, and has been painting whenever she can for over 40 years. She has also worked as an art instructor for a number of years.
Her main interest is in floral, with plein air painting playing an integral part in her working process. Her work leans towards realism and abstraction of forms with a focus on sense of space, light and colours. For Tueai, each painting is a visual poem to nature.
Tueai’s artistic style is characterized by a dynamic and layered energy that aims to capture the serenity, peace and sacredness found in nature. Through her work, the viewer is encouraged to explore their own connection to life and the sacred natural world.
Her work has been included in numerous juried and group exhibitions throughout Ontario.
